What is your background?
Despite a passion for Drama, and originally enrolling for a BA Dramatic Art, I qualified with a BCom (majoring in Business Finance and Commercial Law) and LLB from Wits. I practiced as an attorney for a short while before joining the Project and Infrastructure Finance Department of Investec Bank, where I specialised in Public Private Partnerships. I left Investec 5 years ago in order to establish Levinsohn & Associates (Pty) Ltd, a PPP consultancy.
How did you get into training?
Essentially by complete default – after having been invited to present a few one-hour sessions at various conferences, those invitations gradually evolved into full-day training sessions.
What is your favourite course that you love to teach?Public Private Partnerships and Project Finance
What training experience are you most proud of?(Assuming that my toddler’s toilet training doesn’t count….?!)
A two-day course aimed at Municipal Managers on “Municipal PPPs”, as most delegates came into the room with an exceptionally low knowledge base, but were so motivated and inspired, that they were able to complete the case studies perfectly – and with such enthusiasm - by the end of the course.
I also place a huge emphasis on the ratings which I am given by delegates at the end of a course, and feel a great deal of pride in high ratings or excellent delegate feedback.
What makes you unique?
My combination of subject-matter knowledge & experience, together with my presentation skills and passion for training (as to which, see below).
Why are you passionate about training?
It is the perfect vehicle for combining both the actress and the academic in me. I feel a huge sense of achievement when I see delegates nodding their heads in understanding, or igniting a sharing of my passion for PPPs in delegates.
What else inspires / drives you / are you passionate about (when you’re not training)?
My beautiful family, theatre (the genre of musical theatre in particular), Barbara Streisand, my once-a-week ballet class, reading a brilliant novel.
