Francois Viruly is a property economist with extensive experience in researching the South African property market and is a professor in property studies at the University of the Witwatersrand – Johannesburg.

Francois holds an M.Econ in Development Economics from the University of Kent (UK). Francois held the position of Chief Economist at the Chamber of Mines before establishing JHI Professional Services in 1995 (valuations, research and legal services). He established Viruly Consulting in 1999 specialising in property research, development and investment consultancy and property training.

Francois has lectured on post-graduate courses at Wits University, the University of Cape Town and the University of Pretoria. He also lectures for the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA), chairs the SAPOA Education committee, and is a board member of SAPOA. Francois is a fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS).
