I’m a qualified attorney with postgraduate qualifications in income tax law and financial markets & instruments. I have experience in all aspects of project finance (including export credit) and have been instrumental in the successful closure of projects in virtually all areas of economic activity.
I was a general manager of Absa Corporate & Merchant Bank (now Absa Capital) where he held the position of Global Head: Project & Export Finance. My specific roles included structuring and arranging of finance and, in the larger projects, syndication of senior debt amongst local and international banks. As a result, I have an in-depth understanding of lenders' requirements and their approach to risk and risk mitigation.
After leaving the Absa Group, I was associated with the Bridge Capital Group in Sandton, South Africa, where I was involved in the advising on and arranging of finance for projects in Spain, Mozambique, and Botswana. I also acted as advisor to several South African project sponsors across the spectrum of economic activity.
During 2006 I joined the International law firm, Dewey & LeBoeuf as Senior Counsel, focusing primarily on projects in the energy sector, power projects in particular.
I joined the Sandton based law firm, Routledge Modise, as Director in February 2008.
