Principle Presenter: Suveer Ramdhani
Suveer Ramdhani leads the telecoms practice at FeverTreeConsulting, a management consultancy, and has experience on both strategy and operations projects with a telecommunications line management background.
Suveer participated on a series of strategy projects in the telecommunications, construction, petroleum and banking industries. He also participated in a business improvement operations project driving increased profitability. Previously, he held a senior management position in the telecoms industry within a large ICT integration company and currently leads a team of 15 consultants focused on the telecoms industry.
Suveer’s experience in the telecommunications includes strategy, operations improvements and new ventures with Fixed Line, Mobile and Submarine operators. He holds an Electronic Engineering Degree and an MBA.
Supporting Presenter: Sonja van Rooyen
Sonja van Rooyen completed her MBA at UCT/UCLA after a BCom Hons in Marketing/ Financial Management from UP and UCT respectively. She has been in various line management positions in the financial services/ property sector and has consulted in the Strategic ICT industry for more than 10 years. She was previously a partner and Director at Palladium Strategy Consultants and a Senior Manager at Bentley West Management Consulting.
Over the last 10 years, Sonja has advised more than 30 plus companies in multiple sectors on matters pertaining to the value of Strategic ICT, as well as leading a number of large transformation programmes.
Supporting Presenter: Douglas Mamba
Douglas Mamba completed his BSc at Marymount University, USA. He worked for The Coca-Cola Company in a variety of management positions in their Technical environment. He was part of the I.T. leadership team before furthering his studies by an MBA at Wits Business School. Douglas has spent the last 5 years consulting to a number of JSE Top 40 listed companies on Strategy Development and Operational improvement.
Douglas’s experience in the telecommunications includes market strategy, the benchmarking of a mobile operators cost structure and comparing it to its peers in the marketplace. He has also been involved in the development of the Consumer Channel for a major international mobile operator.
Dominic Cull (B.Bus.Sc. LLM (ICT Law)
is one of the premier telecommunications lawyers in South Africa today. Dominic specialises in electronic communications law with a focus on under-serviced areas and wireless connectivity.
Amongst other things he acts as:
• regulatory advisor to the Internet Service Providers' Association (ISPA);
• regulatory advisor to the Wireless Access Providers' Association (WAPA), an industry self-regulatory body formed in November 2006 to represent the interests of wireless internet service providers and others;
• an independent adjudicator for the Wireless Application Service Providers' Association (WASPA); and
• a founding member of the recently launched Open Spectrum Alliance (OSA) which is a broad grouping of people with an interest in the efficient use of spectrum in South Africa.
In 2009 Dominic launched Ellipsis Regulatory Solutions (www.ellipsis.co.za) and consults to a large number of licence-holders with regard to the interpretation of the SA regulatory framework and compliance therewith.
Andrew Christie (BCOMM Industrial Psychology (Unisa))
Andrew was born in Johannesburg and, after matriculating at St Johns College, he elected to plunge straight into the business world while completing his BComm in Industrial Psychology and Business Management through the University of South Africa in 1996.
He spent two years at a leading bank in South Africa where he became involved in managerial training. He followed this with a stint at a computer-based training company where he assisted in the development of learning centres for major South African corporations.
In 2000 he indulged his love of books by entering into a partnership in a bookshop. Over the next five years he drove the development of that shop into a successful chain of six.
In 2005 he re-entered the corporate world by forming his own consultancy, specialising in providing financial managerial services, as well as growth management for medium corporates.
His experience in business development led Andrew to start Acacia Training, which specialises in turning businesspeople into entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurs into businesspeople.
Andrew enjoys a special relationship with the telecom sector, having facilitated and coached in a wide variety of financial managerial skills for Vodacom and Cell C in South Africa, as well as for Celtel in the Netherlands.
