What is your background?I’m a chartered accountant, with extensive business experience. I’ve occupied various senior management positions in both public and private companies.
How did you get into training? I became involved in lecturing and personal executive coaching in 1998 when I presented "Financial Courses for Non- Financial Managers" on behalf of The Mast Consulting Group. Now I present courses internationally in “Advanced Excel Techniques”, “Advanced Corporate Financial Modelling” and “Excel Project Modelling” on behalf of various training organisations including Terrapinn International.
What is your favourite course that you love to teach? Corporate Financial Modelling
What training experience are you most proud of?
I suppose the fact that I have been training the Kuwait Investment Authority Graduate Program for 10 years, and am asked to repeatedly return each year. The same situation seems to be developing in SA with the tandard Bank TOPP program. This suggests to me that the courses and my presentation skills are appreciated.
What makes you unique?
My personality, and a rather unique combination of talents. I am first and foremost a businessman, and have been a director of a number of private and public companies – In fact, I still am. However I am also an “academic”, and believe in applying science and modern business tools, such as corporate financial models to my business activities.
I am also an ardent supporter of “the power of education” and believe that MSExcel, properly used and exploited in the form of business models, is a more important (powerful) business tool than MS Word. Every business can obtain substantial benefits from properly constructed models. I can also express myself clearly and can convey principles and concepts clearly.
Why are you passionate about training?
I'm an ardent supporter of education – I believe education/ training can change people’s lives.
What else inspires / drives you / are you passionate about (when you’re not training)?
Life. My Wife. My family - 6 children- And living it to the full. I am passionate about squash, (play as often as possible), and have many interests from scuba diving to travel to film to reading. In short, I lead a very full and rewarding life.
