This is an intensive and concentrated three day course to introduce all key aspect of a PPA. We will decipher the structure of the intimidating PPA agreements and link the various elements together in order to give a holistic understanding not only within the two-sided contract but also the relationship towards the country context and financing structure.

The training will be supported by a database of some hundred PPAs from around the world covering all type of power generation technologies. We will further discuss a wide range of case studies from Sub Saharan Countries and compare them with international experience in the power sector. Christian Erich Grutte is an independent advisor with some 20 years’ experience in the power & renewable sector focusing on power project financing and PPAs in emerging markets.

He worked with leading IPP investors, finance institutions and governments across Africa, such as AfDB, AFC, IFC, FMO, OFID, Norfund, Scatec, Engie, Enel, EDF, ESKOM, Actis, Globeleq, Aldwych, EGENCO, Oanda, Mainstream, ABSA, Central Bank of Nigeria, Total, AES, Sumitomo Mitsui, CNOOC, KPLC, Rand Merchant Bank.

He is a part-time lecturer at IESE Business School and Frankfurt School of Finance.
