The proposed training starts with providing a common understanding of IOT, vertical markets, the overall IOT market opportunity and revenue opportunities for telcos. It reviews relevant network technologies and characteristics, overview of current IOT approaches and architectures, interoperability and IOT standards, the role of big data and security and privacy related matters.

Meet your instructor

Ton Brand is a Strategic Program and Market Development Manager, focusing on the delivery of IOT programs and the alignment of diverging interests of commercial, technical, regulatory and market partners throughout multiple industry sectors.

Currently working as an independent consultant, he previously worked as a Senior Director for Marketing and Industry Development for the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA).

Prior to the WBA, Ton joined the GSMA in 2005 as Programme Director where he was the founder of the M2M Programme and became the leader and technology subject matter expert of the Connected Living programme for M2M/IOT devices and services and has worked with mobile operators and different industry verticals such as cities, car manufacturers and health organizations on the development and implementation of IOT services.

In the past, he has worked as a business development consultant with different fixed and wireless operators on the development and launch of telecom and value added services, notably on initiating and launching broadband services in lesser developed regions and countries.
